Here's the Bloomberg interview with Shaykh Mohammad and Shaykh Hamdan.

And as well, here are some unbiased reactions to the interview by various local personalities.

This region takes the cake in sycophancy. The inane utterings and cringemaking praise make me want to throw up, but I wouldn't want to waste the nice espresso I just had so I try and keep it down.

AA, you are a lucky man. You watch from afar and research and probably play the regional markets but you don't have to live here!

Most of them are heading important if not critical organizations. Based on their comments, does anyone believe that they will ever disagree with the ruler or give him sound advice which runs contrary to his beliefs.

A general reaction.

As to the Shaykh's comments, at this point he has to rally the troops. And like many a leader in a difficult situation has to voice faith in the future. "We will fight them on the beaches ..." and all that.

And some of the comments seem a bit over the top, but again it's time for folks it Dubai get on the "beaches" at last metaphorically.

I suspect that everyone knows that the good old days are over and aren't coming back. That much of the acquired empire will have to be sold. And that there is perhaps a permanent shift in the power constellation in the UAE with Abu Dhabi now in a much stronger position.

Though some of the expressions of support are a bit over the top. But which GCC state doesn't have a sage and wise leadership beloved by the people?

I can't think of one.

To each nation it's imagined national myths - including those of the Developed West (TM).
